The Electric Company is an educational show for kids. It airs on PBS, and is an updated version of the series that ran in the early seventies. Episodes feature story lines built around four or five vocabulary words. The Electric Company helps and encourages young viewers who have trouble reading. Phonics, vocabulary and reading motivation are staples of every episode. Animated segments and music videos are interspersed throughout. The show features two groups of friends, The Electric Company and The Pranksters. These groups are rivals and are often battling each other in different word related competitions. Hector Ruiz (Josh Segarra), Jessica Ruiz (P-Star), Lisa Heffenbacher (Jenni Barber), and Keith Watson (Ricky Smith), make up the Electric Company. Francine Carruthers (Ashley Austin Morris), Annie Scrambler (Sandie Rosa), Danny Rebus (William Jackson Harper), and Manny Spamboni (Dominic Colon) portray the pranksters.
