The Commish is an ABC police comedy/drama series starring the Emmy-Award-winning actor Michael Chiklis as Tony Scali, the police commissioner in a small, upstate New York town. Commissioner Scali has a tough job. He's in charge of a whole department full of officers and detectives that need his constant direction in order to protect the streets of his town. Instead of calling the shots from behind a desk all day, Scali chooses to play an active role in law enforcement, often times hitting the streets and taking care of things personally. The Commish earned a large following for its sharp writing and clever take on police shows. The series incorporated a great many topical issues into its story lines, including homophobia, child abuse, and illegal immigration. Michael Chiklis won an Emmy Award in 2002 for his performance on another police show, FX's The Shield. Long before that, Chiklis was protecting the public as Tony Scali in The Commish.MORE
