The Colony

The Colony is a reality show from Discovery Channel that revolves around a group of ten people thrust into a simulated post-apocalyptic world with the challenge of building a livable society in order to survive. Denied the luxuries of electricity, running water, and any communication with the outside world, the group must use the skills they possess and the supplies they find to build necessities to survival. However, this group of “survivors” might just be up to the task, as found in the cast include an IBM scientist, an aerospace engineer, and an alternative energy expert. Unfortunately, the aftereffects of a global catastrophe aren’t the only obstacle the survivors must face. Looters, thieves, and marauders are a constant threat to the camp. The urban area in which the first season was filmed is actually an industrial area bordering the Los Angeles River. The second season of The Colony is set in Chalmette, Louisiana.
