The Clutching Hand, also titled "The Amazing Exploits of the Clutching Hand," is a fifteen part movie serial produced by Weiss Productions and released in theatres in 1936. Based on the book by Arthur B. Reeve, it is about the hijinks which ensue when Dr. Paul Gironda (Robert Frazier) develops a formula to create artificial gold. He mysteriously vanishes right before he is set to unveil it to his board of directors, kidnapped by the mysterious "Clutching Hand." It's up to world-renowned detective Craig Kennedy (Jack Mullhall) and his trusty newspaper reporter sidekick Walter Jameson (Rex Lease) to track the missing scientist down and defeat the otherworldly, mysterious menace that grabbed him. It also features several early appearances by renowned stuntman Yakima Canutt. Each chapter runs for about twenty minutes with a total runtime of a little more than five hours.
