The Chris Rock Show is Chris Rock's own variety show that ran late nights on HBO from February 1997 to November 2000. It featured stand-up and sketch comedy, and always had a healthy dose of celebrity guests. The writing staff reads like a who's who of comedy writers. Wanda Sykes, Louis C.K., Lance Crouther, Nick DiPaolo, Mike Upchurch, Daniel Dratch, and John Marshall all penned material. One of the shows writers would go on to alternative comedy super-stardom. Vernon Chatman started his career as a stand-up, but went on to create Wonder-Showzen for MTV2 and Xavier: the Renegade Angel for Adult Swim. After The Chris Rock Show was cancelled, the creative team behind the show "reunited" in the form of a feature film. "Pootie Tang," written and directed by Louis C.K., starred Lance Crouther, Chris Rock, Wanda Sykes, and a variety of Chris Rock Show guests. It remains a cult favorite to this day.MORE
