The Cho Show

The Cho Show is a reality sitcom that aired on VH1 in 2008 about comedian Margaret Cho and her everyday life. The people Margaret interacts with include her traditional Korean parents, her friend and assistant Selene, and celebrities like Sandra Bernhard, Kat von D, Joan Rivers, and Wanda Sykes. Much of the show focuses on Margaret and her heritage, as she’s honored as a “Korean of the Year” although the Korean community hasn’t always accepted her. She also must deal with the nagging of her traditional parents for grandchildren as she approaches her 40th birthday. Margaret has always had always commented on the beauty standards of society, and as someone who’s getting older, she must come to terms with her own aging, and decide if she will stay as unique as she’s always been, or give in to society’s standards. But Margaret has always had a different set of values than the Hollywood scene, and she’s never kept quiet about it. Through the challenges of her career, Margaret enlists the help of her friends and family to remain the same outspoken, opinionated, confident woman she’s always been- all while having a great sense of humor about it, of course.
