The Chamomile Lawn is a British drama television mini-series based on the book written by Mary Wesley in 1984. The story begins with the introduction of Richard (Paul Eddington) and Helena Cuthbertson (Felicity Kendal), who live on a large estate by the Cornish hills of Great Britain. The year is 1939 and Helena is visited by her 5 nieces and nephews: Calypso (Jennifer Ehle/Rosemary Harris), Walter (Ben Walden), Polly (Tara FitzGerald/Virginia McKenna), Oliver (Toby Stephens/Richard Johnson), and Sophy (Rebecca Hall/Claire Bloom). The kids are young and naive with delusions of freedom - the following year, WWII breaks out and changes them forever. The cousins run into each other during different phases of young adulthood and adulthood, and the viewer learns how their sexual experiences, often abusive and incestuous, the suffering they endured, and love they had shaped who they became. The family is reunited in the 1980's for a friend's funeral, which is when they reminisce on their times together.MORE
