The Beverly Hillbillies is the classic TV sitcom about the Clampett Family - Jed (Buddy Ebsen), Daisy May "Granny" Moshes (Irene Ryan), Elly May (Donna Douglas), and Jethro Bodine, a backwoods family who hit's oil, strikes it rich, and brings their Hillbilly ways to the swanky Beverly Hills. With their neighbor and banker Milburn Drysdale, his wife Harriet E. MacGibbon, and their secretary Miss Jane Hathaway, the Clampetts bring their unsophisticated and minimal life to the superficial community. Jed is the head of the family, a good-natured and loyal family man who longs for the simple life but makes the best of Beverly Hills. Granny is the shotgun-toting mother-in-law of Jed, a scrappy nearsighted down-home lady who didn't want to move to Beverly Hills. Elly May is Jed's only child, is a kind tomboy with the body of a pinup who is courted by many young Hollywood actors. Jethro is the son of Jed's cousin who can be a bit of an idiot despite his family boasting about his sixth-grade education. Rounding out the family is the Clampetts' bloodhound Duke. The series was one of the first "fish out of water" sitcoms, paving the way for many to come, as well as leading to a 1993 movie adaptation of The Beverly Hillbillies.MORE
