The Adventures of Robin Hood was a British television series that ran from 1955 to 1960 produced mainly for children. It starred Richard Greene as the heroic Robin Hood and Alan Wheatley as the Sheriff of Nottingham. The show told the legendary tales of Robin of Locksley and his merry men in Sherwood Forest. The good king John is away fighting in the crusaded, leaving the evil Prince John to rule over the people. It is up to Robin Hood and his band of freedom fighters to fight back against Prince John and his henchman, the Sheriff of Nottingham. Setting this version of Robin Hood apart from others was that the beautiful Maid Marion did not just wait around to get rescued, she actually got up and fought as well.
