Tequila & Bonetti is a sometimes funny, sometimes dramatic television show based on a relocated New York City cop and his dog. Created by Donald P. Bellisario, creator of such gems as Magnum P.I. and NCIS, Tequila & Bonetti centers around an Italian-American police officer named Nico "Nick" Bonetti (Jack Scalia) from New York City who relocates to Los Angeles after accidentally shooting a 12 year old girl in a gunfight. Bonetti is constantly tormented by the memory of the shooting, and a re-curring scene of the show is a montage of him playing the piano, interjected with scenes of the gunfight playing out from Bonetti's mind. The move to Los Angeles brings a fresh start, a beach-front police precinct, and a very large French Mastiff named Tequila (Brad Sanders) into Bonetti's life. The audience hears Tequila's thoughts, and although not the best of pals at first, he & Bonetti become great ÒpartnersÓ, and their interactions with one another keep the jokes in full supply. In addition to the memory of the shooting, Bonetti does not understand the wacky ways of the Californians in his new life, but learns to understand and appreciate them and all their peculiarities, with help from such characters as his psychic neighbor and a police chief who is trapped in the body of a struggling screenwriter. Tequila & Bonetti was not loved initially by critics, and was cancelled after a 4 month run on CBS. However, it was revamped and enjoyed a successful stint on Italian television years later..MORE
