Temptation Island was a reality television show that originally aired on the FOX network. One of the more bizarre reality shows of its time, Temptation Island would test the strength of a loving couple’s relationship by placing them in front of “temptation,” immersing them in a group of singles of the opposite sex. The program’s controversial first season, located in Ambergris Cave, Belize, was a ratings success, although subsequent seasons would suffer from reduced ratings and harsh critical backlash, as the show’s game play repeatedly tore relationships apart. Season 1 contestant Mandy Lauderdale was able to convert her newfound stardom into a singing career. After a 2-year hiatus, the show returned for a 3rd season that again failed to recapture the ratings glory of its inaugural season.
