Sylvanian Families was a 1987 American animated television series that was co-produced in France and Japan. The show was based off of a merchandise line that featured video games and collectible plush animals created by the Japanese company 'Epoch.' The toys represented families of different woodland creatures such as hedgehogs, beavers, bears, mice as well as other animals such as dogs, cats, monkeys, penguins and even meerkats. The animals are called Sylvanians, as 'sylvan' means 'of the forest.' The animated show was set in the Sylvanian Forest, home to the miniature whimsical animals. To enter you had to be a child and truly wish to see the forest. Upon doing so you'd be magically shrunk and transported to the forest realm. The animals led decent lives, but sometimes had trouble in the form of their arch villain Packbat and his sidekick Gatorpossum. When faced with these troubles the Sylvanian families band together to solve the problem.MORE
