Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is a show created and written by Aaron Sorkin about a fictional sketch comedy show also called Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip on a network called NBS (National Broadcasting System). The show-within-a-show is headed by Danny Tripp (Bradley Whitford), a former segment producer who is brought back as a Director/Executive Producer to collaborate with his close friend Matt Albie (Matthew Perry), who has moved up from being a writer to being in an executive position. The other executives on the show include recently hired President of Entertainment Programming Jordan McDeere (Amanda Peet), her boss Jack Rudolph (Steven Weber), the chairman of NBS, and the director of Studio 60, Cal Shanley (Timothy Busfield). The cast of the fictional show include Harriet Hayes (Sarah Paulson), a sexy star and the on-and-off girlfriend of Matt Albie, Tom Jeter (Nate Corddry), an actor from the midwest, and Simon Stiles (D.L. Hughley), an alumnus of Yale School of Drama. Other secondary characters come in and out of the show to demonstrate the variety of personalities that all typically come together to create a sketch show of this nature, which can sometimes clash professionally and on a personal level.
