Stargate SG-1

Stargate SG-1 is a military science fiction TV series Stargate developed by the Syfy channel based on the feature film that follows the adventures of the SG-1, the lead team of Earth as they explore the galaxy using a stargate, an intergalactic travel device made by the Ancients SG-1 is comprised of witty Colonel Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson), genius archaeologist Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), quiet Jaffa warrior Teal'C (Christopher Judge), and astrophysicist Captain Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) with later additions of an alien con artist, Vala Mal Doran (Claudia Black) and Colonel Cameron Mitchell (Ben Browder). The goal of the SG-1 is to search for alien technology and allies to help defend the Milky Way galaxy against potential threats, such as the Goa'uld, parasitic aliens that conquer others by making them become unwilling hosts; the Replicators, technologically advanced and evolving machines; and the Ori, old Ancients who believed more in religion than in science. Stargate SG-1, while science fiction, links many of the alien races the team encounters with commonly known Earth mythologies, such as the Egyptians – Anubis was a Goa'uld villain, Norse –Thor was an Asgard ally, and Arthurian legend It also was well known for its pop culture references, especially alluding to Richard Dean Anderson's role as MacGyver and both Black and Browder's roles on the cult favorite Farscape. Considered one of the most popular cult TV shows, Stargate SG-1 in its ten season run spawned multiple spin-offs including Stargate Atlantis, the animated Stargate Infinity, and Stargate Universe as well as two direct-to-DVD films, Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum.
