Star Trek: The Animated Series

Star Trek: The Animated Series is a 1973 Filmation animated continuation of the popular 1960's science fiction television show It features the further adventures of the Starship Enterprise, captained by James T. Kirk (William Shatner). The pop culture icon Spock (Leonard Nimoy) is also there, as well as Dr. McCoy (Deforest Kelly) to round out the classic triumvirate. Scottie (James Doohan), Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), and Sulu (George Takei) also return, as well as newcomers M'Ress (Majel Barrett) and Arex (James Doohan). Despite being animated, the series tone continued the intellectual sci-fi of its live action version, with many of the same writers contributing stories. With the freedom given by animation, it was also able to explore ideas and alien worlds not possible to portray in live action. The series also revisits concepts started in the original, such as the popular Tribbles story. A total of 22 thirty-minute episodes were created over two seasons. Any fan of the original Star Trek series will find something to like about Star Trek: The Animated Series. MORE
