The Spike Video Game Awards, also known as VGA for short, are an annual collection of awards handed out by the team at Spike TV to the biggest and best video games. Starting in 2003, the VGA's were one of the first award shows to only focus on the video game industry, earning the awards a fair amount of credit inside the industry. With the rise of rival video game awards being handed out by other networks (G4, IGN, etc.) determined by votes from critics, the VGA's have come under attack from some extremist gamers claiming that Spike's awards are little more than a popularity contest, owing that Spike's awards are based on open online polling. Whatever the coin one lies on, there is no denying that the VGA's are a spectacular show and a night in which gaming can be celebrated. Whether it's the celebrities, music acts, game trailers, game footage, big industry reveals, or simply the awards themselves, Spike's Video Game Awards are a must watch for any avid gamer.MORE
