Smash Lab

Smash Lab is an American reality television show produced for the Discovery Channel that originally aired on the network from December 2007 to May of 2009. The whole idea behind the show is to take useful technology, usually geared for safety, and test it in different ways, sometimes seeing if it can be improved upon or even be used for different functions. The team is comprised of designers, scientists, artisans and engineers. They first take it apart to see how it works, then they test it in the most destructive ways possible in their Crash Lab. Can a parachute save you from a boat crash? Can retro firing rockets save a runaway trailer? Sure some experiments will fail, explosions will happen, fires will ensue, and cars will flip, but these are good things- it's all for a safer, more effective system.
