Shear Genius is a new competition based reality show on Bravo Television similar to ""Project Runway"" in which 15 up-and-coming hair stylists, from different backgrounds, compete each week for the ultimate break: an apprenticeship with top salon Nexxus a chance to style hair for an Allure magazine photo shoot and $100,000 in prize money. Each week, the stylists meet two new challenges that tests their imagination, taste, talent, versatility, vision, and most importantly point of view under very difficult time constraints. Their work is then judged by a panel of top industry professionals. There is a challenge winner and a challenge loser (who is eliminated from the competition). The artists are mentored during these challenges by an acclaimed stylist (currently renown fashion industry stylist Orlando Pita). The show is currently in it's third season, and has experienced several changes in their judging panel as well as the mentor position. Judges Sally Hershberger and Michael Carl were replaced with Kim Vo and Kelly Atterton, while Jaclyn Smith stayed for one more season as host and judge.
