Sex and the City

Sex and the City is an HBO original tv show about four single girls in New York City- Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her three best friends, Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon). The series is based on the novel of the same name by Candace Bushnell, and it follows the four bachelorettes as they navigate the dating and sex scene in the city they live in. Although their relationships, both serious and casual, don't always work out, they have each other's support and openly discuss their romantic and sexual encounters. Carrie also has a newspaper column in which her topics often parallel the problems her and her friends are facing. While Carrie balances her writing career, her love of men, and her love of fashion (her unofficial fourth best friend is Manolo Blahnik), Charlotte looks for a traditional happy ending with a husband and children, and Samantha goes on every sexual adventure she can find. Miranda struggles to balance her career and her love life, and figuring out what's going on with Steve, a questionable match that seems to keep showing up. The men in Carrie's life, including wealthy "Mr. Big", affectionate Aidan, and artist Mikhail Baryshnikov, may come and go, but her friends are consistent. The show was later adapted into a movie which also starred Gilles Marini as Samantha's hot neighbor and Jennifer Hudson as Carrie's personal assistant. MORE
