Sengoku Basara is a Japanese-style animated ("anime") series based on the video game series by Capcom. The series was made by Production I.G., written by Yasuyuki Muto with direction handled for the first season by Itsuro Kawasaki and for the second season by Kazuya Nomura. Sengoku Basara is set in the Sengoku Period of Japanese history, a time of tension by different waring families throughout the country. The Dark Lord, Oda Nobunga, begins his quest to dominate all of Japan. Two war lords, Sanada Yukimura and Date Masamune, form a heated alliance in order to prevent the Dark Lord from taking more control over the land than he already has. The series follows the two as they battle across the land, forming ties and bonds with other families to rid the common evil. The first season ran from April 2009 to June 2009 with a total of 13 episodes. The second season, Sengoku Basara II, originally ran from July 2010 to September 2010, also with 13 episodes.MORE
