Samurai 7

Samurai 7 is an anime adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's most famous film, Seven Samurai. Like in Kurasawa's 1954 production, Samurai 7 begins when the elders of Kama, a farming hamlet, decide to stand up to the bandits that steal their harvest every year. The elders send sisters Kirara (Fumiko Orikasi, Colleen Chickenbeard) and Komachi (Chiwa Saito, Luci Christian) with rash peasant Rikichi (Tadahisa Saizen, J. Michael Tatum) to search for samurai willing to protect their village from the bandits. The three villagers are only able to find seven samurai willing to accept the miserable salary offered by the village, a daily stipend of rice, as payment for risking their lives. The samurai begin teaching the villagers how to fight, but will they be ready in time? The situation is growing worse each day as hungry bandits close in and political unrest in Japan's capital looms ominously at the village's flank.
