Salute Your Shorts

Salute Your Shorts is an American comedy series that aired on Nickelodeon from 1991-1992. The popular show follows the misadventures of a group of quirky teenagers brought together for the summer at Camp Anawanna. Kirk Bailey plays dorky camp councilor Kevin “Ug” Bailey, who is constantly trying to please Dr. Khan, the mysterious and never-seen camp director. Ug’s campers include the environmentalist, Z.Z.(Megan Berwick), clumsy fat-kid, Donkey lips (Michael Ray Bower), metal-loving bully, Budnick (Danny Cooksey), athletic Telly (Venus DeMilo), young genius Sponge (Tim Eyster), and glamorous Dina (Heidi Lucas). The original Salute Your Shorts cast also includes the blonde athlete, Michael (Erik MacArthur), but he leaves due to a bad case of the chickenpox, and is replaced by the smooth-talking Ronnie Pinsky (Blake Soper). The crew is always finding new ways to harass Ug, prank each other, and wreak havoc on Camp Anawanna. While the campers are occasionally busted for their mischief, Ug is usually too busy tanning or lusting after the mail carrier, Mona Tibbs (Christine Cavanaugh) to notice. Salute Your Shorts aired for two seasons on Nickelodeon before its cancellation in 1992. Due to its popularity, the show’s 26 episodes were frequently rerun on Nickelodeon throughout the 1990s. MORE
