Roseanne

Roseanne is a long-running and much-loved ABC sitcom starring Roseanne Barr in the title role as the all-American housewife, doing her best to keep a family together during trying times. The show follows the Conners, a working class family living in the Midwest. The Conners family consists of the hilarious husband-and-wife duo Dan (John Goodman) and Roseanne, as well as their three children-DJ (Michael Fishman), the youngest, Darlene (Sara Gilbert), and Becky (Sarah Chalke), the oldest. Other regular characters include Roseanne's dear friend Jackie Harris, played by Laurie Metcalf. Roseanne became very popular for its unapologetic portrayal of typical American life, never shying away from controversial themes. The series was nominated for dozens of awards over the course of its nine season run. Roseanne and Laurie Metcalf each won Emmy Awards for their acting on the series. Roseanne is a classic sitcom that ran from 1988 to 1997, reaching the top five in the Nielsen ratings for many of those seasons. MORE
