Robin of Sherwood

Robin of Sherwood was a classic British television series that originally aired from April 1984 to June 1986. The series, which was simply titled Robin Hood in the United States, starred Michael Praed and Jason Connery, son of legendary actor Sean Connery, both in the title role of Robin (Michael Praed for two seasons and Jason Connery for one). In contrast to previous depictions of the classic character, Robin of Sherwood chose to depict the story in a grittier, more realistic manner, choosing to mix in real historical elements as well as pagan mythologies into the original story tales. Upon is release, Robin of Sherwood was described by many fans and critics as the definitive take on Robin Hood up to that point in time, and still to this day is held in high regard. Unfortunately, at the end of the third season, Goldcrest, one of the production companies behind the show, fell on hard times after a series of various flops from its movie wing, and was forced to abandon the show. Though fans have often called for a renewal of the show, original series creator Richard Carpenter has gone on record claiming to have no interesting in revisiting the realm of Nottingham and Sherwood Forest.
