Rhoda

Rhoda is a 1970s American family sitcom that ran from 1974 to 1978 on CBS, starring Valerie Harper as Rhoda Morgenstern. In this spin-off of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda is a spunky, weight-conscious, and uniquely fashionable single woman who travels to New York City to visit her family. In the Big Apple, she meets Joe Gerard (David Groh), a handsome divorcee with his own business and a young son. Rhoda and Joe fall in love, much to Rhoda's mother's delight, and Rhoda decides to leave Minneapolis for good and move to New York City to be with him. She originally moves in with her younger sister, Brenda (Julie Kavner), an overweight bank-teller with self-esteem problems, much as Rhoda was, only a few years earlier. What will Rhoda make of New York City? And what will New York City make of Rhoda?
