Redemption Song is a reality TV series featuring eleven women with difficult pasts competing for an official music recording contract. The show is hosted by Chris Jericho, a WWE professional wrestler, and the contestants are assisted by voice coach Mauli B. During the elimination sections of the show, the contestants are presented with a vinyl record in the sleeve. If the record is snapped in half, the contestant has been dropped from the show. The young women competing must be able to competitively sing in a variety of musical styles, including rap, country, punk rock, reggae, acapella, and salsa music. Many of the contestants are unfamiliar with these styles of music, so it is a challenge to Mauli B. to teach them. The contestants that succeed in the eliminations will produce music videos and online single releases during the length of the show.
