Quads is a flash-animated cartoon made by John Callahan. The mature audience program was displayed on Teletoon during the years 2000 and 2001. In the 25 episodes, 4 friends struggling with mental and physical difficulties live together in a spacious house. The series starts when an alcoholic named Reilly O'Reilly (James Kee) gets hit by a millionaire. The accident cripples him and he becomes paralyzed. The millionaire then gives him a mansion in which he lives with his other handicapped friends: his girlfriend Franny (Terri Hawkes), the alcoholic pub owner Griz (Hamish Hughes) and his gay Australian physical therapist Spalding (Matthew King). In the unique comedy, everyone has bad manners and no one acts politically correct. Jokes about disability and other controversial subjects are one of the funny aspects of the show. Despite its entertaining facet, the show also humanizes the disabled by admitting that they are individuals who are quite capable of being selfish, manipulative and silly just as anyone else, rather than the objects of automatic, monotonous sympathy.MORE
