Michael Palin: Pole to Pole is an eight-part television documentary series that aired on BBC in 1992. The show follows comedian, actor, reporter, and explorer Michael Palin, best known for Monty Python, as he completes a taxing 5 _ month journey from the North Pole to the South Pole. The trip tries to avoid travel by aircraft whenever at all possible and carries Palin through Scandinavia, the Soviet Union, other parts of Europe, and the heart of Africa, as he followed the 30 degree east line of latitude from pole to pole. Along the way, Palin has plenty of adventures, from getting baptized in a Russian Orthodox baptism ceremony to taking a hot air balloon safari in Kenya.
