Permanent Mark

Permanent Mark is the Spike TV reality series that follows a man on a worldwide quest to find the great masters of tattooing. Mark was born in Libya, with early memories of growing up in the Sahara with a nanny who was tattooed on her face and hands, done by applying thick black paste and sharp thorns. The image stayed with Mark and intrigued him, as they were much different than the hand and face tattoos you see in America. They held very deep spiritual meanings, with symbolism and depth that greatly outshone their sometimes crude application. Mark has been in Hollywood for 7 years trying to sell his idea of showing indigenous tattooing on television, and Spike has finally given him his wish. Now he is on a mission to see the best tattooers in the world, with the most inspiring stories, from heading to Borneo to get tattooed with headhunters, to mixing it up with the yakuza mafia in Tokyo, where offending a boss can cost you a finger.
