Perfect strangers is the popular 80's ABC sitcom featuring Bronson Pinchot and Mark Linn-Baker as two distant cousins, as opposite as can be, sharing an apartment in Chicago. Larry Appleton (Linn-Baker) is a neurotic who recently moved to Chicago to enjoy living by himself. He soon finds that he has an annoying European cousin named Balki Bartokomous (Pinchot) who has come to Chicago to live with him. Despite initial protest, Larry decides that he likes Balki and lets him stay. Balki's enthusiasm yet complete lack of understanding of the American way of life brings the show much of its comedy and heart. While Balki teaches Larry how to fit in and gets him out of trouble often, Balki teaches Larry how to lead a carefree and joyful life. The series ran from 1986 - 1993. The show's major pull was Bronson Pinchot's rising star after being featured as a funny foreign salesman in Beverly Hills Cop with Eddy Murphy. The creators of the show also created Classic sitcom Mork and Mindy (which also featured the strange paring of a normal American with someone alien to the customs of the land).
