Parenthood

Parenthood is a television series on NBC based on a movie of the same name that was released in 1989, starring Erika Christensen, Lauren Graham, Dax Shephard, Monica Potter, and Peter Krause. The show is about a family and its three generations, starting with Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) and Camille Braverman (Bonnie Bedelia), parents to Adam, Sarah, Crosby, and Julia. Adam (Peter Krause), the oldest, is married to Kristina (Potter), and together they have a responsible 15-year-old, Haddie (Sarah Ramos), who is slowly coming into her own, and an 8-year-old, Max (Max Burkholder), who suffers from Asberger's syndrome. Sarah (Graham), a divorcee, and her children Amber (Mae Whitman) and Drew (Miles Heizer), move back in with her parents after her financial situation becomes dire. The children's father, Sarah's ex-husband, was a poor parent, and Sarah struggles to compensate while also getting her life back on track. Crosby (Dax Shephard) is 32 and single, and although his long-term girlfriend is pushing for commitment, their relationship hits a bump when Crosby's ex girlfriend Jasmine (Joy Bryant) shows up with a son, Jabbar (Tyree Brown), who he was unaware he had fathered. Julia (Christensen), the youngest, is a lawyer whose husband Joel (Sam Jaeger) is a stay at home dad with their precocious 5-year-old daughter, Sydney (Savannah Paige Rae). With all of the families living close to each other, they are able to support each other as they contend with the issues arising in their sometimes- dysfunctional family tree. Although they have their differences, and many personal problems to cope with, they are all in stages of starting anew and setting a good example for their children, and able to do it all together.
