Parental Control is a scripted reality dating show on MTV for parents to choose more suitable partners for their children than the individual they are currently dating. When a set of parents is unhappy with the person their kid is seeing, they come to MTV’s Parental Control, the only show where they have the opportunity to prove that they know best. Their child’s current boyfriend or girlfriend is introduced in all their rude, worthless glory, and their less than stellar dynamic with parents is easy to see. Mom and Dad take turns interviewing a multitude of eligible bachelors and bachelorettes, and they then each choose one person for their son or daughter to go on a date with. Together, the parents and the current significant other will sit and watch as the teenager in question go on the dates, with commentary, of course.
