Orphen (the full title of which is Sorcerous Stabber Orphen) is a Japanese anime series that is based in a fantasy world of magicians, spells, and dragons. The series' protagonist is Orphen, a student at the prestigious magic academy called The Tower of Fang. During his time at the school, Orphen befriends another student, Azalie, and the two progress through their courses with each other's help. One night Azalie tampers with some spells and potions above her skill level, and accidentally turns herself into a dragon! The history of The Tower of Fang is full of tormenting dragons, specifically a monstrous beast called Bloody August, so the school elders declare that the unexpected dragon on campus must be exterminated. Orphen tries to explain the situation to everyone, but no one listens to him. Instead, a great hunt is started, with each student looking to earn to glory of defeating the rogue dragon.
