Open Bar, a gay-themed reality show on the LOGO network, focused on Tyler Robuck, a young entrepreneur in his quest to open a gay bar in West Hollywood. In the short six episode series, Tyler struggles to open his bar, iCandy, on time and within the budget. Having only come out to his family recently, the series discussed that process with Tyler and his parents in intimate interviews. In the first few episodes Tyler meets his business partner, Richard Heyman, and together they hold a fundraiser for the bar opening. Unfortunately insufficient capital is raised and Tyler is forced to hold tastings at the bar in subsequent episodes in hopes of raising more money from investors. With only a few days left before the planned opening (which is scheduled to coincide with gay pride), Tyler is finally able to raise enough capital to hire employees and open the bar. Despite a few glitches, the opening celebration goes swimmingly. During the official opening on pride weekend however, the bar finds itself empty and losing money. Unfortunately Tyler's lack of promotion for iCandy hurt the business in its early stages. In the final episode Tyler reflects on the opening process and the bar's success in its first open month. Airing in August of 2005, 'Open Bar' was one of LOGO's first original programs.MORE
