Obsessed is an American documentary series on A&E Network. The series uncovers the lives of victims of chronic anxiety disorders in a disturbingly honest way. The individuals that the show follows have agreed to undergo Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which puts patients face-to-face with their deepest fears, in order to hopefully overcome their illnesses. Dr. Craig's techniques are controversial and often-times shocking, including such uncomfortable extremities as allowing a patient, who fears that she will violently harm others, to hold a knife to her own throat and forcing a man, who is obsessed with cleanliness and order, to handle such dirty items as a used tampon. Mental illnesses are on the rise in the United States of America, but remain the proverbial 'elephant in the room.' With Obsessed, A&E tries to bring voice to their victims and make it less of a taboo to discuss them. Whether or not the show is successful in doing so is debatable, but many would say that it is a step in the right direction.MORE
