NOVA science NOW

NOVA scienceNOW began on January 25th, 2005. The program is a spinoff of PBS's long running series NOVA. The show has covered a broad range of topics, including personal DNA testing, talking walruses, space elevators, and many more scientific stories. Episodes often use animation, humor and pop culture references in order to explain some of the more dry subjects that are covered. The original host for NOVA scienceNOW was Robert Krulwich. In 2006, he was replaced by renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York City. In addition to Tyson, NOVA scienceNOW features several correspondents that report on the individual stories within an episode. The correspondents include Peter Standring, Chad Cohen, Carla Wohl, Rebecca Skloot, and David Duncan. The show's fourth season wrapped in 2009, and WGBH is currently producing the fifth and sixth seasons. NOVA scienceNOW has been nominated for four Emmy Awards and won a CINE Golden Eagle award, which recognizes and fosters the highest quality non-theatrical film and video production. MORE
