New Street Law is a legal drama created by G.F. Newman and Matthew Hall for BBC One that centers on two competing lawyers working the opposing sides in Manchester, England. Jack Roper (John Hannah) is a brilliant defense lawyer with a passion for justice and a deeply ingrained desire to fight for the rights of those hurt by criminals. Laurence Scammel (Paul Freeman), once Roper's mentor, has made a name for himself as the top of his field in prosecution with prospects of becoming a judge. While Roper and Scammel have their own personal battle against the other, they each deal with the dramas of the courtroom and firms. Roper deals with a cocky womanizer of a pupil, Joe Stevens (Lee Williams), and Scammel's dedicated daughter, Laura (Lisa Faulkner), hoping to prove her worth in the law field. For Scammel, he balances the growing desires of his exceptionally ambitious wife, Honor (Penny Downie), and the growing number of loses he's accrued against Roper.MORE
