National Geographic Channel's Halloween Unmasked is a documentary show that explores the origins of the various traditions associated with the spooky October holiday. As far as holidays go, Halloween has more than it's fair share of traditions-the scary decorations, the costume parties, trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins, and many more fun ways of celebrating the scariest of all annual festivals. In this series, National Geographic breaks these many traditions down and examines their roots. Historically, Halloween comes from many different sources. It includes aspects of the Celtic festival Samhain, as well as the Christian holiday All Saints' Day. Added to that are the many new traditions that have developed since the holiday became primarily secular, such as attending scary movies and visiting haunted houses.
