Monty Python's Flying Circus is a 1969 BBC produced sketch comedy show featuring the wildly popular British sketch comedy team, Monty Python. The group consisted of Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. Risqué but smart, abstract but poignant and all around complete silliness, the show catapulted the group into stardom. Five years before the American hit, Saturday Night Live, there was Monty Python's Flying Circus, a comedic force with such sketch favorites as "Ministry of Silly Walks", "Dead Parrot", and "Nudge Nudge". And who could forget Terry Gilliam's brilliant cartoons spliced in between. The show ran for five years and was a overwhelming success, listed as on of the 100 Best Television Series by both TIME magazine and the British Film Institute. It also gave rise to movie deals, including the beloved comedy classic "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."MORE
