Money Hungry uses cash to motivate contestants, where other weight-loss TV shows use peer-pressure or attention from a TV audience. The premise of this VH1 reality series is simple, think of it as diet poker. Ten pairs of contestants, chosen for their entertaining personalities, go up against each other to lose weight for a cash prize: a hundred thousand dollars. Each pair of contestants comes up with ten thousand dollars, they pool it, and whichever pair has lost the most weight at the end of the season goes home with all the money. There is more: it takes place in a luxury compound where they face temptations, challenges, and weekly weigh-ins. The ten thousand, by the way, is the contestants' own money, not given to them by the producers, so the loss is real. You either lose your personal stake and go home fat and poor, or you win a hundred grand and leave wealthy and thin.MORE
