Moesha

Moesha is a sitcom about American teenager Moesha Mitchell, played by Brandy Norwood, living with her family in Los Angeles, California, and dealing with the challenges that life throws her way along with her friends, the boy-crazy Kim Parker (Countess Vaughn), longtime friend and neighbor Hakeem (Lamont Bentley), and confidante Neicy Jackson (Shar Jackson). Moesha’s dad, Frank (William Allen Young) has just married Dee (Sheryl Lee Ralph), who happens to be the vice-principal at Moesha’s school, much to her embarrassment. The Mitchells are an upper middle class African- American family and the change in their family dynamic leads to new trials and hilarious situations in the household, which also includes pesky little brother Myles (Marcus T. Paulk), and later in the show, their cousin Dorian (played by Ray J, Brandy’s real-life brother), who turns out to be their half-brother. Although Moesha and her family and friends often find themselves in humorous situations, the show also addresses serious teen issues, like infidelity, teen pregnancy, drug use, race relations, the death of a parent, and premarital sex, and there is a lesson to be learned from each episode.
