Mistresses

Mistresses, a BBC serial drama television series, follows the lives of four women and their explorations in sex and romance. Katie Roden, played by Sarah Parish, begins the series by having an affair with one of her terminally ill patients only to realize that doing so has put her job in jeopardy. Trudi Malloy, played by Sharon Small, is a 9/11 widow who has recently received a large sum of money from the US government for bereavement. When she discovers that in fact her husband is not actually dead, an epic confrontation ensues and Trudi returns the government's money. Jessica Fraser, played by Shelley Conn, is a loose cannon. Her loud mouth and her promiscuity regularly get her into trouble with both men and women. Siobhan Dhillon, played by Orla Brady, has an illicit affair that leads to a pregnancy. When Siobhan's infertile husband discovers her infidelity, he demands she terminate the pregnancy. When it is discovered that she cannot, Siobhan, her husband, and the father of her child attempt to continue a relationship. As their lives interact, the audience discovers the inconsistencies behind all four ladies' desires and their actions. Written by Rachel Pole, Richard Warlor, Harriet Braun, and Catrin Clarke, the show ran for three seasons with a total of sixteen episodes. MORE
