Melrose Place

Melrose Place is a 90s TV show that aired on Fox and was produced by Aaron Spelling as the second series in the Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise. The show is about an apartment complex in West Hollywood and its residents, Dr. Michael Mancini (Thomas Calabro), his budding fashion designer Jane Mancini (Josie Bissett), struggling writer Billy Campbell (Andrew Shue), advertising company receptionist Alison Parker (Courtney Thorne- Smith), gay social worker Matt Fielding (Doug Savant), aerobics instructor Rhonda Blair (Vanessa A. Williams), Southern belle and actress Sandy Harling (Amy Locane), and manual laborer and biker bad boy Jake Hanson (Grant Show). The show began as a drama about young people who moved to Los Angeles to realize their dreams, but soon romantic entanglements between the residents and dramatic events brought it up to heightened soap opera levels. Popular character Amanda Woodward, Alison’s boss, was a pro at stealing boyfriends, making catty comments, and “power dressing” for success, and eventually bought the complex, which would mean trouble for the male residents she’d had affairs with and the women there who would have her as competition. As the show progressed, intertwined storylines of love, sex, death, blackmail, lies, and mental illness made Melrose Place the most interesting apartment complex in America. MORE
