Max Headroom

Max Headroom is a British science fiction television series that originally aired for two seasons between 1987 and 1988. The series was groundbreaking in its portrayal of a dystopian society where everything, even the government, is ruled by the power of the television networks. Matt Frewer plays Edison Carter, an investigative report trying to expose the unlawful and unmoral business practices of the TV networks. His job requires that he works for one of the networks—Network 23—and he often finds himself in dangerous positions when he uncovers unsavory truths about his own corrupt employers. After one such controversy leads him into a terrible car accident, his mind is downloaded onto a computer and used to create an animated version of himself named Max Headroom, who shares Edison's passion for justice but exists only in the digital realm.
