Maverick

Maverick is the ABC western and comedy TV show that follows the lives of four traveling Mavericks, Bret (James Garner), Bart (Jack Kelly), Beau (Roger Moore), and Brent (Roger Colbert). The guys travel the west, making money gambling and by using their wits, charm, and slyness to overcome the situations in their way. Bret was the honest anti-hero, who though he was slow with a pistol, he was mean with his fists. Bart is Bret's brother, who was taller but very similar. Beau is their cousin, who wears a grey suit and grey hat, and has an English accent from his years spend in England. Finally there is Brent, the youngest brother of the Maverick Family. The show featured tales of adventures with comedy interspersed, as the Mavericks traveled the west, fighting crime, playing cards, and doing anything to make a buck. Audiences enjoyed the mix of Western adventure and the fun and humor, and the show became a hit, leading to spin-off series and even a movie version with Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster.
