Mama's Family

Mama's Family is the NBC sitcom TV series that follows a family headed by Thelma Harper, a cranky and sharp-tongued widow who shares a house with her sister Fran, Thelma's son Vinton along with his two kids, Vinton "Buzz" Jr. (Eric Brown) and Sonja, and new wife Naomi. Thelma is a blue-haired outspoken 65-year-old, who lived with her uptight sister Fran in a small house in the town of Raytown. When Vinton's wife left him, the scatterbrained fool moves back in with his mother, and soon falls for Naomi, the flirtatious next door neighbor who usually squabbles with Thelma. Naomi eventually moves in, further cramping the small house. The looney neighbor across the street Iola constantly flirts with Vint, and spends much of her time at the Harpers' to get away from her overbearing parents. Finally there are Ellen and Eunice, Thelma's two daughters. Ellen is an elitist and judgmental snob, and Eunice is foulmouthed and combative with everyone she meets. A spin-off of comedy sketches from The Carol Burnett Show, the humor returns with the Harpers' extended family on Mama's Family. MORE
