Making the Band 4 takes P. Diddy's creations—Danity Kane, Day26, and Donnie Klang—and puts them through the ultimate test: a tour. Night after night the young artists put on dazzling concerts, leading to extreme pressure and tensions between them. Diddy continues to mentor them, molding them into what he hopes will be the supergroups for a new generation. Making the Band began in 2000 when Lou Perlman, the man behind The Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC, set out to find the next hit boy band. That season cerated O-Town, who had two more seasons on the show at its new home on MTV. In 2002, Making the Band 2 began, with P. Diddy at the wheel and searching for the best hip hop and singing talent he could find.
