Lizzie McGuire is a teen comedy that aired on the Disney Channel from 2001 - 2004 and starred Hilary Duff, Adam Lamberg, and Lalaine Vergara-Paras. The show focuses on the life of the young Lizzie (Hilary Duff), a cute pre-teen who is just trying to get through middle school without causing too much trouble. Although she is often kind and thoughtful, her animated alter-ego often explains to the audience how she really feels about each situation, whether it's disgust, anxiety, or unhappiness. Her best friends are Miranda Sanchez (Lalaine Vergara-Paras), who is incredibly self-conscious and David "Gordo" Gordon (Adam Lamberg), who secretly has a crush on Lizzie. The three navigate through popularity concerns, bullies, crushes on boys, and family issues while always staying close friends. Other recurring characters include Lizzie's little brother, Matt (Jake Thomas), mother, Jo (Hallie Todd), and father, Sam (Robert Carradine). Lizzie's classmates include the popular Kate Sanders (Ashlie Brillault), the unintelligent but very good looking Ethan Craft (Clayton Snyder), and the nerdy Larry Tudgeman (Kyle Downes).
