Little Miss Perfect

Little Miss Perfect is a reality television show on WE about girls between the ages of 5 and 10 who compete in beauty pageants after undergoing training at the pageant school of Michael Galanes. The weekly competition poses two girls against each other, and the show follows the girls as they prepare with the help of their families- usually their moms. They prepare pageant-perfect hair, makeup, nails, and dresses to compete in the pageant, where the winner will receive not only the crown, but a $1,000 prize, which can offset pageant costs and go towards savings for a college education. The show and similar programming, like TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras, has been met with controversy regarding whose idea competing in pageants really is. Many of the moms insist that they let their daughters make the decision for themselves, and the girls certainly enjoy having the occasion to play dress up. Memorable contestant Jayne has a patriotic talent number, Hadlie is guided by a mom with 20 years of pageant experience, and Katelyn’s divorced parents come together to plan her rock’n’roll number, but ultimately Galanes will tell them if they have what it takes to be Little Miss Perfect.
