Legion of Super Heroes

Legion of Super Heroes is an animated cartoon TV series produced by Warner Bros. Animation from The CW featuring Superman and the justice league heroes of the future fighting 31st century super-villains. In the first season, a group of extraordinary teenagers back from the 31st to the 21st century to recruit Superman for help in their crusade against evil. Unexpectedly, they travel too far back and end up with a younger, but no less powerful Clark Kent, who embraces his legacy and lends a helping hand to the Legion in their fight before he returns home. Legion of Super Heroes tells the story of the core Legionnaires, include Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5, Phantom Girl, Cosmic Boy, Bouncing Boy, Triplicate Girl, Timber Wolf, Dream Girl, Chameleon Boy, and others, fighting valiantly with Superman against the Fatal Five, the Legion of Super-Villains, and other foes to protect their United Planets. The cartoon did not feature superhero fan favorite Red Tornado. The series itself was inspired in no small part by “Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes,” a comic book story arc from DC Comics by Geoff Johns (writer) and Gary Frank (penciller), in which an adult Superman fights (now villainous) Brainiac 5 and also draws in part from the rich 50-year history of the “Legion of Super-Heroes” series. Legion of Super Heroes was cancelled after its second season when Kids WB! was replaced by CW4Kids on The CW and its producer and main designer James Tucker went on to work with other justice league heroes on “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” an American cartoon series that debuted in 2008 on Cartoon Network.
